Lower back pain – symptoms, treatment and surgery

Lower back pain is experienced by most of the people at some time or the other.

Lower back pain may be due to age, improper body workouts, trauma and structural abnormalities which may injure the spine and result in back pain and leg pain or numbness or leg weakness.

Around 80% of adults suffer from lower back pain in which 90% of these back problems can be treated without surgery by using medicines, physiotherapy, rest and activity modifications.

Surgery will be done if the nerves are affected and the patient is not able to walk properly due to herniated disc, scoliosis, spondylolisthesis or spinal stenosis.
