TAGS

Lockheed Martin Skunk Works (NYSE: LMT) and Verizon (NYSE, Nasdaq: VZ) have marked a significant advancement in military technology by demonstrating 5G streaming for real-time visualization content on edge computing devices. This collaboration is a key step in advancing the (DOD) sustainment missions, focusing on critical latency interactions in complex visualization applications like augmented, virtual, or experiences.

Key Technological Advancements in the Collaboration

The partnership has successfully validated three essential technology areas:

  1. Implementation of 5G at the edge for latency-critical interactions of complex visualization applications.
  2. Streaming of real-time, intricate 3D visualization content.
  3. Effective streaming to various edge compute devices, including tablets, mobiles, Head Mounted Displays (HMDs), and more.

These technological leaps forward support ‘s “Maintainer as a Node” concept, where connected maintainers receive all necessary information efficiently in a latency-sensitive environment.
