Landmark Properties and W5 Group launch The Standard at Syracuse student housing community

Landmark Properties, in partnership with W5 Group, has announced the acquisition of a 2-acre site in the University Hill neighborhood of Syracuse, New York, just a block from Syracuse University. This marks the commencement of The Standard at Syracuse, a groundbreaking 600+ bed, 210-unit student housing project set to transform local student accommodation by 2026.

Located at 910 Madison St., The Standard at Syracuse aims to be the first purpose-built student housing in the area to offer five-bedroom floorplans. A key feature of the project is the preservation of the Temple Concord sanctuary, a site on the National Register of Historic Places, which will be integrated into the new development to maintain the historical character of the neighborhood.

The construction of The Standard at Syracuse is overseen by Landmark Construction, the in-house general contractor for Landmark Properties. The new development will feature a range of unit types from studios to expansive five-bedroom apartments. Each unit will be fully furnished, featuring hardwood-style flooring, private baths, in-unit laundry facilities, and gourmet kitchens equipped with quartz countertops and stainless-steel appliances. Select units will also include private balconies.

Wes Rogers, President and CEO of Landmark Properties, emphasized the importance of the location and the community-focused approach: “Beyond the remarkable location on the north side of the Syracuse University campus, The Standard at Syracuse will provide much-needed housing for students at Syracuse University. Our work with the city of Syracuse and community stakeholders has set us on a course to create an amenity-rich lifestyle experience for students.”

The development will not only cater to the housing needs but also offer luxurious amenities such as a 24-hour fitness center, sauna, multiple study areas, a large outdoor hot tub, and a parking deck with 220 spaces. The preserved Temple Concord structure will transform into a 4,750 square foot amenity space for residents, serving as a hub for socializing, studying, and relaxation.

Ralph Winter, founder of W5 Group, noted the project’s alignment with broader academic and economic developments: “The Standard at Syracuse typifies our Innovative Living investment strategy and will provide a green, state-of-the-art, bed-bath parity, community-oriented highly amenitized flexible living solution for students. Micron Technology’s plans to build a $100 billion semiconductor in the area will further bolster Syracuse University.”

The strategic location next to the Marshall Street entertainment district and the 76-acre Thornden Park positions The Standard at Syracuse as a prime choice for students seeking both convenience and quality living. This project reflects a robust investment in the future of student living, combining modern luxury with historic preservation to offer a unique living experience that is expected to set new standards in the student housing market.
