Ksi Lisims LNG signs 20-year LNG agreement with Shell for two million tonnes annually
Ksi Lisims LNG Limited Partnership, a collaboration between the Nisga’a Nation, Rockies LNG Limited Partnership, and Western LNG LLC, has announced a significant 20-year LNG sale and purchase agreement with Shell Eastern Trading Pte Ltd. This landmark deal marks Ksi Lisims LNG’s first LNG offtake agreement, where Shell will purchase 2 million tonnes of LNG per year on a free-on-board basis from the Ksi Lisims LNG project.
World’s Lowest Emitting LNG Liquefaction Facility
Ksi Lisims LNG, named “from the Nass River” in the Nisga’a language, is set to become the lowest emitting LNG liquefaction facility in the world. The project, located in British Columbia, Canada, leverages cutting-edge technology from Samsung Heavy Industries and Black & Veatch, employing floating LNG production units and an all-electric process technology. The project stands as an innovative development for North America’s LNG industry.

The Ksi Lisims LNG project aligns with the global need for low-carbon, reliable energy, aiding the transition from higher-emitting fuels and supporting renewable energy sources like wind and solar.
Net-Zero Ready Facility
Ksi Lisims LNG is set to be net-zero ready by 2030, powered by renewable hydroelectricity. The facility, planned on Nisga’a Nation-owned land at Pearse Island’s northern tip, will produce 12 million tonnes per annum of LNG from two floating LNG production and storage facilities. The environmental certificate application was filed with the B.C. government in October 2023, and Ksi Lisims LNG was represented by Baker Botts L.L.P. in the SPA negotiation.
