Knowledge Marine & Engineering wins contract from Indian Ports Dredging

Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works Limited said that it has bagged a work order pertaining to Kolkata Port from Indian Ports Dredging Private Limited.

Under the work order, the company will be responsible for reusing dredged material that is extracted after dredging by Grab Dredger “River Pearl 2” at the port for a period of one year. The dredged material is intended to be reused for landfilling.

The dredge material is being used for landfilling by Kolkata-based Srijan Reality Pvt. Ltd. With the requirement being more than two million tons.

Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works said that the additional compensation over and above the per day hire and per hour of operation will be INR18,000 per barge load of 1500 MT.

The work is a Ministry of Shipping special initiative for finding alternate use for dredged material rather than disposing it offshore in deeper waters.
