Keysight Technologies acquires Eggplant from Carlyle Group for $330m

Keysight acquisition of Eggplant : Keysight Technologies, California-based manufacturer of electronics test and measurement equipment and software,e has completed its $330 million acquisition of digital automation intelligence specialist Eggplant from The Carlyle Group.

Eggplant is a software test automation platform provider that employs artificial intelligence (AI) and analytics for the automation of test creation and test execution. Its Digital Automation Intelligence platform is said to have the capability of testing any technology on any device, operating system, or browser at any layer, from the user interface (UI) to application programming interfaces (APIs) to the database.

With the use of artificial intelligence and analytics for automation of testing, Eggplant is said to enable enhanced software application development velocity and improved quality, thereby driving competitive advantage and differentiation. The company’s customers are said to spread a wide range of sectors which overlap the existing customer base of Keysight Technologies while growing software test opportunities into new end-markets.

The combination of Keysight Technologies and Eggplant is said to bring together two complementary firms to create an innovative force in the automated software test market across the physical and protocol layers and into the application layers. The transaction is also said to facilitate bi-directional leverage of measurement technologies between both the firms to lead to increased solution differentiation in the expanded offering.
