German wind turbine manufacturer Nordex Group has bagged an o contract for the 62.7MW Jurbarkas II wind farm in Lithuania from Green Genius, a part of the Lithuanian Modus Group.
Under the contract, Nordex Group will provide 11 N163/5.X turbines for the Lithuanian wind project.
The order also has a service contract under which the German wind turbine manufacturing company will maintain the turbines of the Jurbarkas II wind farm for a period of 25 years.
The Jurbarkas II wind farm will be constructed close to Jurbarkas town in an agricultural area located in southwest Lithuania, approximately 50km away from the Baltic Sea.
Nordex Group said that as the project area is characterized by wind speeds that average greater than seven meters per second, the Delta4000 series of turbines is the ideal option to build the wind farm. The turbines will be positioned on 159m towers.
Supply and installation of the N163/5.X turbines of the Jurbarkas II wind farm are expected to occur next year, and Green Genius will operate the eleven Nordex wind turbines that will have an output of 5.7MW.
Nordex forayed into the Lithuanian market in 2015 by installing eight N117/3000 turbines for the Jurbarkas wind farm within the same area. At that time, Nordex established a service point near the wind farm, from where its turbines at the Jurbarkas II wind farm will also be serviced after their commissioning.
