Inox Wind secures record-breaking 1.5GW wind project from CESC Limited
In an unprecedented move within the renewable energy sector, Inox Wind Limited (IWL), a frontrunner in wind energy solutions in India, has announced a landmark agreement with CESC Limited, one of India’s leading power utilities. This binding framework agreement, set to unfold over the next 3-4 years, involves the installation and supply of 1,500 MW of wind capacity. This collaboration not only represents the single largest wind order for Inox Wind but also stands as a monumental commitment to advancing green energy initiatives in India.
The agreement outlines a comprehensive scope of work, including the turnkey execution of 1,000 MW and the supply of equipment along with limited scope EPC for an additional 500 MW. Central to this deal are Inox Wind’s latest DF/3000/145 Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs), each boasting a minimum capacity of 3.3 MW. Following the commissioning of these wind projects, Inox Green Energy Services Limited (IGESL), a subsidiary of IWL, will provide multi-year operations and maintenance (O&M) services, ensuring the longevity and efficiency of the installations.
Kailash Tarachandani, CEO of Inox Wind, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, highlighting it as a pivotal moment in the company’s history. “This agreement is a testament to Inox Wind’s strengths and project delivery capabilities,” Tarachandani remarked, underscoring the strategic timing of the deal as Inox Wind gears up for gigawatt-plus scale executions in the coming years.
Sandeep Kashyap, CEO of the Renewable Business at RPSG Group (which CESC is a part of), echoed the sentiment, emphasizing CESC’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and its ambitious green energy goals. “We are delighted to partner with Inox Wind for this ambitious project,” Kashyap stated, pointing to the significant role of Inox Wind’s expertise in achieving CESC’s renewable energy targets.
CESC Limited, the flagship of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group and a pioneer in India’s electrical utility landscape since 1899, has a rich history of power generation and distribution. With its extensive reach in Kolkata, Howrah, and beyond, CESC’s venture into renewable energy with Inox Wind marks a significant stride towards environmental sustainability and green energy adoption in India.
This strategic partnership between Inox Wind and CESC Limited not only paves the way for substantial renewable energy capacity addition but also signals a major shift towards sustainable development in India’s power sector, further bolstering the country’s commitment to green energy and reducing its carbon footprint.
