Infleqtion, recognized as the global leader in quantum information technology, has reached a pivotal milestone by installing a state-of-the-art neutral atom quantum computer at the National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC). This significant development makes Infleqtion the first company to deploy hardware under the NQCC’s quantum computing testbed programme, reinforcing its position at the forefront of quantum technology advancements.

Tim Ballance, President of Infleqtion UK, emphasized the collaborative efforts, stating, “Our recent installation underscores Infleqtion’s commitment to spearheading crucial infrastructure advancements at the NQCC. This includes the integration of network infrastructure, safety protocols, and security measures essential for quantum computing operations.”

The installation encompasses not only the physical setup but also the in-situ characterization of primary lasers, optical, vacuum, and electronic subsystems, showcasing Infleqtion’s technological prowess and capability to execute complex quantum installations.

Parallel to the hardware deployment, Infleqtion’s quantum software team is actively collaborating with NQCC researchers and partners such as Oxfordshire County Council, Riverlane, and QinetiQ. Together, they are exploring near-term applications of quantum computing, including traffic management optimizations in Oxfordshire using Infleqtion’s Superstaq software, demonstrating the technology’s potential impact on regional and national challenges, particularly in national security and defence.

Furthermore, Infleqtion is set to play a pivotal role in the upcoming UK Quantum Hackathon, part of NQCC’s SparQ user engagement programme. The event aims to bridge the gap between quantum computing and practical applications, providing students and early career researchers with invaluable hands-on experience in developing quantum solutions for sectors like healthcare, energy, and engineering.

Matthew Kinsella, CEO of Infleqtion, expressed enthusiasm about the installation, stating, “The deployment at the Harwell Campus in Oxfordshire is a testament to Infleqtion’s ability to deliver commercial-grade quantum solutions that pave the way for innovative applications and industry adoption.”

Dr. Michael Cuthbert, Director of the NQCC, highlighted the broader implications of these developments, “These system-level prototypes are crucial for understanding the diverse hardware capabilities and developing use cases tailored to enhance the efficacy of early-stage quantum technologies. This initiative will significantly contribute to our ongoing efforts to foster collaborations across academia, industry, and government sectors.”

With a legacy rooted in 17 years of ColdQuanta’s pioneering research, Infleqtion continues to influence the quantum landscape through its innovative hardware products and AI-powered solutions that meet critical market needs in security, navigation, and quantum computing, among others.
