India’s tallest flagpole installed by Skipper Limited at Atari-Wagha border
Skipper Limited, recognized globally for Power Transmission & Distribution structures, has erected India‘s tallest flagpole, measuring 418 feet (127.5 meters), at the significant Atari-Wagha Border in Punjab. The inauguration was graced by Shri Nitin Gadkari, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, alongside Punjab’s Chief Minister, Shri Bhagwant Mann.

Flagpole’s Robust Design
This monumental flagpole stands at a soaring height of 418 feet or 127.5 meters, with the National Emblem placed 2 meters above its top section. It’s designed to hoist a flag measuring an expansive 120 feet by 80 feet. The structure is comprised of 14 sections, securely interconnected using a stress fit approach.
Construction and Erection Insights
For the foundation, a specialized steel with 8.8 grade anchor bolts was chosen. The designs, validated by IIT Chennai, incorporated nine piles and an M25 grade concrete. A DEMAG AC 1600 crane, featuring a hydraulic boom length of 50 meters and an added 90-meter lifting fly jib, played a pivotal role in achieving the necessary elevation. Impressively, the entire erection process concluded within a span of 15 days, leveraging a vertical lifting strategy.
