IndianOil awards sulphur recovery plant contract to Nuberg EPC

Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL or IndianOil) has awarded a contract to Nuberg EPC for constructing a sulphur recovery plant for its Gujarat Refinery LuPech project.

The sulphur recovery plant, which comprises a sulphur recovery unit with a capacity of 400 tonnes per day (TPD), a control room, and a substation for sulphur block, will involve an investment of over INR 650 crores.

Nuberg EPC, which is an Indian EPC and turnkey project management company, won the contract through international competitive bidding.

The sulphur recovery plant is being constructed within the existing facility of Indian Oil Corporation Limited at Vadodara for its petrochemical and lube integration project.

Nuberg EPC said that it will carry out the project using the latest French technology.

The sulphur recovery unit will help Indian Oil Corporation Limited in recovering sulphur from sour gas, which is a by-product of the Gujarat Refinery.

According to Nuberg EPC, the sulphur recovery plant is likely to be ready for production in 28 months.

“This partnership with Indian Oil is in addition to Nuberg EPC building and commissioning India’s first commercial scale Hydrogen Purification (fuel cell grade), Compression, Storage Dispensing Facility for Indian Oil at Vadodara. The 1.5 TPD project involves generation of ultra-pure hydrogen and its storage at extremely high pressure.”
