AES’ subsidiary Indianapolis Power & Light (IPL) has agreed to acquire a 195MW solar power project to be built in Clinton County, Indianapolis.
The acquisition will be completed once it receives approval from the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission.
Invenergy has been given the tasks of developing and managing the construction of the solar power plant, which is expected to begin commercial operation in 2023. Construction on the IPL solar power project is expected to kick off in the fall of this year involving nearly 200 temporary construction jobs.
Once operational, the solar power plant will be able to power 30,000 plus homes.
Kristina Lund – IPL President and CEO said: “The recent advancements in digital technologies and renewable energy give our customers a wide variety of options when it comes to how they power their homes and businesses.
“Gone are the days when customers had to choose between reliability, affordability and sustainability. Now they can have all three, and this solar project is a great example of how IPL can help our customers achieve their most important personal and business objectives.”
