Indian engineering group Larsen & Toubro forms L&T Green Energy Council
Larsen & Toubro (L&T), an Indian multinational engaged in infrastructure, hi-tech manufacturing and services, has announced the establishment of the L&T Green Energy Council, a think-tank comprising eminent thought leaders.
This move marks a significant step towards the development of a global green energy business.
The primary responsibility of the L&T Green Energy Council is to identify technology trends in green energy, analyze evolving global policy developments, evaluate emerging business models, and provide guidance on collaborations.
The members of the L&T Green Energy Council include Professor Eicke R. Weber, a global authority on renewable energy technologies, Bart Biebuyck, an expert in the green hydrogen economy, Professor Dr Christopher Hebling, director of Hydrogen Technologies at Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE, and Professor Patrice Simon, a renowned figure in electrochemical materials.
As the world strives towards a Net-Zero economy, India plays a pivotal role in combating climate change. The urgency to innovate and scale cutting-edge clean energy technologies becomes crucial in significantly reducing atmospheric emissions and addressing pollution in cities.
Leveraging its robust capabilities in the energy sector, L&T is dedicated to actively contributing to India’s green energy future. With a firm commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2040, L&T has already undertaken initiatives encompassing green hydrogen project development/EPC, electrolyzer manufacturing, and battery cell manufacturing.
