Helium One Global reports successful drilling of Tai-3 well in Tanzania

TAGS

Helium One Global (AIM: HE1), a primary explorer of helium in Tanzania, has shared an exciting update on the drilling progress of the Tai-3 well. The well has successfully reached a measured depth (MD) of 1,448 meters, having encountered weathered crystalline Basement, marking a significant milestone in the company’s exploration efforts.

Discovery of Elevated Helium Shows

Throughout the drilling process, the team identified elevated helium shows, with levels up to six times above the background, particularly in the Lower Karoo Group and Basement targets. These findings, increasing in frequency and quality with depth, align with the company’s expectations and add to the optimism surrounding the project.

Encountering Fractured Basement Zone

A key moment in the drilling was the encounter with a fracture zone in the crystalline Basement, composed of metamorphic gneissic rock, leading to partial losses of drilling mud. The presence of elevated helium readings at the top of the Basement, along with the successful management of mud losses, highlights the well’s potential as a primary reservoir target.
