HCLTech bets big on Singapore—AI Lab set to transform the future of business
HCLTech, a prominent global technology company, has announced its newest initiative—the establishment of an AI/Cloud Native Lab in Singapore, set to be operational by 2025. This move marks the fifth addition to HCLTech’s global Lab network, which currently spans the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, and India.
The new AI/Cloud Native Lab will serve as a catalyst for enterprises in Singapore and the region, facilitating the acceleration of their AI transformation strategies. This Lab will be supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) and will feature HCLTech’s full spectrum of AI and Generative AI (GenAI) solutions, including AI Force and AI Foundry. A unique aspect of this initiative involves partnerships with Nanyang Polytechnic and Singapore Polytechnic to foster knowledge exchange and support the development of talent ranging from students to mid-career professionals.
At an announcement event attended by officials from the Ministry of Digital Development and Information of Singapore and senior academic leaders, Roshni Nadar Malhotra, Chairperson of HCLTech, emphasized the significance of this addition to their global network.
Vijay Guntur, Chief Technology Officer and Head of Ecosystems at HCLTech, highlighted that the Lab’s objective is to act as a starting point for enterprises looking to create AI and GenAI-led solutions, enhance business capabilities, and devise skilling strategies. He stated, “Our Labs are a conducive starting point for enterprises that want to embark on a collaborative journey to develop blueprints for AI and GenAI-led efficiencies, new business capabilities, skilling roadmaps, and overall organizational competitive advantage with a pragmatic approach. We are very excited to add Singapore to our network, which will go a long way in further strengthening Singapore’s position as a regional hub for AI innovation.”
Singapore’s proactive stance in AI adoption has been a key factor in this decision. The city-state’s National AI Strategy 2.0, launched in 2023, underscores its commitment to advancing responsible and trusted AI solutions. This strategy aims to integrate AI innovations across sectors such as financial services, manufacturing, and SMEs.
Philbert Gomez, Executive Director of Digital Industry Singapore (DISG), commented on the development, expressing enthusiasm for the partnership with HCLTech. He remarked, “DISG has been driving the adoption of AI across key industries and Singapore-based corporates, and HCLTech’s AI Lab supports this mission. We are pleased to partner with HCLTech for the launch of its AI Lab in Singapore, which provides enterprises with the tools to rapidly experiment with and scale AI solutions to unlock new business value from Singapore.”
HCLTech’s longstanding presence in Singapore, dating back over four decades, underscores its deep-rooted relationship with the region. The company has contributed to several technological advancements, such as Asia’s first Wi-Fi-based patient tracking system and various government-led projects.
