Indian technology company HCL Technologies (HCLTech) said that it has launched two solutions dubbed CloudSMART Modernization Experience and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) to help telecom networks expedite their transformation via cloud native platforms.
As 5G is set to become a reality, companies in the field of telecom are planning to quickly shift from proprietary platforms in favor of cloud native platforms, which offer flexibility and scalability to provide custom services to users, said HCL Technologies.
The Indian IT company said that the CloudSMART Modernization Experience solution helps telecom companies adopt open source as well as off the shelf IT solution from vendors. It allows telecom operators the option to create custom solutions by mixing the best-of-breed technologies from different providers of network solutions.
According to HCL Technologies, clients of CloudSMART Modernization Experience get the hands-on support of the company to implement cloud native telecom solutions. This includes identifying suitable cloud-native network functions (CNFs) on a Kubernetes based platform and enabling new capabilities to upgrade the telecom environment.
The site reliability engineering (SRE) solution from HCL Technologies for cloud native telecom is said to enable a full set of procedures needed for the successful operation of telecom services on a large scale with the latest cloud native platforms. It lets telecom service providers increase and maintain industry-leading levels of reliability by implementing modern site reliability engineering practices in their operations, ultimately increasing gains in efficiency and lowering lock-ins with traditional telecom service providers.
Similar to the CloudSMART Modernization Experience, HCL Technologies new site reliability engineering enablement for telcos offers a hands-on approach that combines modernization and reskilling to help organizations get the highest return on investment (ROI) from their investments in telecommunications.
Kalyan Kumar — HCL Technologies Chief Technology Officer and Head of Ecosystems said: “We are thrilled to be launching these two new services to transform the ways in which enterprises across industries view their strategies for business growth and development.
“Our enablement of Cloud Native telecommunications platforms will provide a much-needed solution for businesses looking to take advantage of the latest advancements in the telecommunications industry.”
