Grasim Industries, Lubrizol to kickstart construction of CPVC resin facility this year

Grasim Industries Limited and Lubrizol Manufacturing India Private Limited have reaffirmed their commitment to construct the first phase of the world’s largest single-site, state-of-the-art Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride (CPVC) resin production facility, located in Vilayat, Gujarat.

The CPVC resin project, initially announced in October 2020, was delayed due to the global COVID-19 outbreak and associated supply chain disruptions.

The CPVC resin facility, once operational, is expected to manufacture and supply 100,000 metric tonnes of CPVC resin annually. This will cater to the increasing demand for this material in the Indian market. Despite original plans to begin production in 2022, the onset of the pandemic halted project initiation.

The CPVC resin manufactured at the Vilayat facility will be used in products marketed under Lubrizol’s FlowGuard Plus, Corzan, and BlazeMaster brands.

Now, both Grasim Industries and Lubrizol have reasserted that construction of the facility will commence in the latter part of 2023. The CPVC resin project implementation plan is currently under finalization.
