This event, hosted in Koh Pich, Phnom Penh, drew over 500 participants, including decision-makers, Chief Technology Officers, and students, promoting a dynamic exchange of ideas on Artificial Intelligence and the Google for Startups Cloud Program.

Cambodia, recognized as one of Asia’s fastest-growing economies with an annual GDP growth of approximately 6%, is increasingly catching the eye of international investors. The country is home to a rapidly expanding tech sector that seeks to integrate more fully into the regional tech scene, particularly through partnerships with tech hubs like Singapore.

The Cambodia Tech Catalyst event served as a platform for fostering innovations and connecting Cambodian tech talents with global opportunities. The event featured sessions like Life at Google, where Google Cloud’s startup team, Esna Ong and Kathleen Chiu, engaged with over 300 students from CamTech University and the Canadian International School of Phnom Penh, sparking interest in new technologies.

Expansion of Local Startup Ecosystem:

The startup ecosystem in Cambodia is supported by numerous initiatives and entities such as Khmer Enterprise, Mekong Strategic Partners, and Techo Startup Center. These contribute to a supportive environment for over 300 startups, a number that is expected to double in the next two years.

Google for Startups Cloud Program:

During the event, Google introduced the Google for Startups Cloud Program, which offers credits and business support to eligible companies. Notable participants included Nham24, Canadia Bank, and Bongloy Payments, illustrating the program’s significant potential impact on local enterprises.

OCIC’s Commitment to Tech and Innovation:

OCIC is venturing beyond its traditional real estate focus to support technological innovation and entrepreneurship. The group plans to launch Connexion at Koh Pich, which will include a programming school based on France’s École 42 model and an innovation center, reinforcing its commitment to nurturing Cambodia’s tech talent.
