Genesys International, a leader in geospatial technology for over two decades, has announced its latest development in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) maps. This groundbreaking innovation was showcased at the ADAS Show 2023, held at the International Centre of Automotive Technology (ICAT, Manesar) and guided by the Ministry of Heavy Industries, Government of India, on December 7, 2023.
Setting New Standards in Automotive Navigation and Safety
Genesys is driving progress in the automotive industry by setting new standards in navigation and safety technology. Their innovation marks a significant leap towards the future of driver safety and advanced ADAS levels, including autonomous driving. This development demonstrates Genesys’ commitment to enhancing safety for autonomous vehicles with highly detailed road information.
High Fidelity 2D Standard Definition (SD) Map for India
The highlight of Genesys’ showcase was their high-fidelity 2D Standard Definition (SD) map for India. Covering 8.3 million km of roads and featuring over 40 million Points of Interest, the map sets a benchmark in accuracy and reliability. Advancing beyond basic navigation, Genesys introduced its innovative ADAS maps, addressing visibility, localization, and lane guidance challenges faced by vision-based ADAS systems.
Addressing Road Safety Challenges in India
In 2022, India witnessed over 4.6 lac road accidents, with a significant percentage occurring on National Highways. Sajid Malik, CMD of Genesys International, emphasized the importance of safety enhancements, stating, “We are capturing road details such as lane marking, lane width, road shoulders, road dividers, and more, to provide critical information for safe navigation.”
Integrating the Ecosystem for Road Safety
Navin Paul, a member of Genesys’ Executive Innovation Board and advisor to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), highlighted the need for integration in the road safety ecosystem. He explained how Genesys’ ADAS maps augment the driver’s ability to assess risks and respond swiftly, contributing to accident prevention.
Genesys’ Commitment to Geospatial Innovation
Genesys International’s dedication to innovation is further evident in their projects and partnerships, including creating 3D digital twins of urban areas and collaborating with the Survey of India (SOI). This partnership is a transformative step in enhancing India’s geospatial data capabilities, combining Genesys’ advanced mapping technologies with SOI’s surveying expertise.
