Gazprom, MVM CEEnergy sign contracts to bring Russian gas to Hungary
Gazprom Export, a subsidiary of Gazprom, has signed a couple of long-term contracts with Hungarian natural gas trader MVM CEEnergy in Budapest for enabling supplies of Russian gas to Hungary.
The two 15-year contracts envisage total supplies of up to 4.5 billion cubic meters of gas per annum.
They were inked by the parties in the presence of Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto and Elena Burmistrova, who is Gazprom Management Committee Deputy Chairman as well as Gazprom Export Director General.
Alexey Miller — Chairman of Gazprom Management Committee said: “An important component of the new arrangements is the diversification of supply routes. As early as from October 1, Hungary will start receiving Gazprom’s gas via TurkStream and the gas pipelines of southeastern Europe.
“This was made possible to a large extent through the efforts of Bulgarian, Serbian and Hungarian companies in charge of developing the national gas transmission systems.”
According to Gazprom, its gas supplies to Hungary in 2020 were 8.6 billion cubic meters.
