Gas Entec bags contract for cargo handling system of LNG bunker vessel
Gas Entec has bagged an EPC contract from Sembcorp Marine Integrated Yard for the cargo handling system for a 12,000 cubic meter LNG bunker vessel.
As per the contract terms, Gas Entec will be responsible for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the cargo handling system of the LNG bunker vessel, which will be owned by Mitsui OSK Lines’ subsidiary Indah Singa Maritime. The vessel will operate out of Singapore.
The LNG bunker vessel will be deployed for long-term charter for Pavilion Gas, a subsidiary of Pavilion Energy, owned by Temasek. It is expected to become the largest LNG bunker ship to operate in Asia upon its delivery in 2021.
Gas Entec, which is a subsidiary of Atlantic Gulf & Pacific Company (AG&P), is a global gas and LNG logistics provider. The company provides engineering services for small- and mid-scale LNG infrastructure and other applications.
Gas Entec has specific expertise in cargo containment, handling and fuel gas supply systems for floating LNG terminals, ships, and bunker vessels that use LNG as a fuel.
The LNG bunker vessel will be constructed at Sembcorp Marine Tuas Boulevard Yard in Singapore. Gas Entec’s engineers will work with their counterparts to monitor the cargo handling project.
The vessel, which will have dimensions of 112m length and 22m width, will incorporate GTT Flex III membrane technology for the cargo containment tanks and will feature dual-fuel engines running on either LNG or marine diesel oil for cleaner propulsion.
Chong-Ho Kwak – CEO of Gas Entec said: “Gas Entec is honoured to work with Sembcorp Marine for the landmark 12,000 CBM LNG bunker vessel project, which will be the largest bunker ship to operate in Asia when it enters in service in 2021. We are excited to be a part of this prestigious project and will continue to work very hard to deliver to the immense responsibility and trust placed on us.”
