Gajendra Singh Shekhawat hit with FIR for calling Gehlot as Ravana
Union Jal Shakti Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has been hit with an FIR in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan regarding his alleged comments at a recent rally against the state’s Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
The FIR was filed on Saturday in response to a complaint from Congress leader and ex-MLA Surendra Singh Jadawat.
At the BJP’s Jan Aakrosh event held in Chittorgarh on Thursday, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat was reported to have claimed Ashok Gehlot to be “the Ravana of politics in Rajasthan” and demanded that people “resolve to establish Ram Rajya in the state”.
The FIR was registered under sections 143, which is an unlawful assembly, 153-A, which is for promoting animosity between various groups due to race, religion, and so on, 295-A, which is deliberate and malicious acts designed to sway the religious sentiments of any group by slandering its religious or spiritual beliefs, 500, which is for defamation, and 504, which is for intentionally inflicting insult with the intention to disturb the peace.
As per the FIR, the BJP party held a gathering at a public area on the 27th of April where Gajendra Singh Shekhawat was the chief speaker. He delivered a speech in order in order to “incite” people, as per the FIR.
Gajendra Singh Shekhawat disseminated “false” information about “popular” Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, and spread hate, while slamming the chief minister by calling his name as “Ravana of politics” with the aim of damaging his image, the FIR said.
