G42 partners with NVIDIA to revolutionise weather forecasting through Earth-2

G42, the leading artificial intelligence and cloud computing firm based in Abu Dhabi, has announced a strategic partnership with NVIDIA aimed at advancing climate technology. The collaboration focuses on developing innovative AI solutions to improve global weather forecasting accuracy. The core of this effort is NVIDIA’s Earth-2 platform, which uses AI-augmented high-resolution simulations for precise weather predictions.

The project’s central goal is to create a square-kilometre resolution model for weather forecasting. This will significantly improve the accuracy of meteorological data, helping industries such as agriculture, energy, and urban planning better prepare for extreme weather events. By delivering precise, localised predictions, the partnership addresses the growing need for more accurate climate data as climate disasters increase in frequency.

A key component of this initiative is the establishment of the Earth-2 Climate Tech Lab in Abu Dhabi, which will serve as a global hub for research and development. This facility will process over 100 petabytes of geophysical data, leveraging both companies’ strengths in AI and computing power. The lab will drive solutions to combat climate change and further the UAE‘s ambitions to lead in technological innovation and environmental sustainability.
