Freudenberg Medical acquires hypotube manufacturing business of Merit Medical Systems

Freudenberg Medical has acquired the manufacturing equipment and associated assets used by in its hypotube manufacturing business, for an undisclosed price.

The company said that the acquired assets will be combined with its Ireland-based subsidiary , which is a hypotube manufacturer in the minimally invasive industry.

Founded in 2006, Cambus Medical develops and manufactures hypotubes, metal micro-components, and specialty needles, for catheters and minimally invasive devices that are used in therapeutic and diagnostic interventions.

Barry Comerford – CEO of Cambus Medical said: “This strategic acquisition will give Cambus Medical key equipment to increase production capacity, deepen our technology base to achieve unrivalled laser processing and coating capabilities, and expand our customer base.”

, on the other hand, is a US-based partner for the design, development and manufacture of medical devices, components, and product solutions.

The acquisition gives the company – manufacturing equipment for laser-cut hypotubes and also access to additional technology. Merit Medical has agreed to supply Cambus Medical with PTFE coated tubing and wire so that product supply for all existing customers remains uninterrupted.
