Einride partners with AB InBev to launch in Benelux to drive electric transport transformation
Einride, a Swedish freight mobility technology company, has launched in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg (together, Benelux) in partnership with brewing giant Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev) to drive the electric transport transformation in the region.
The partnership between Einride and AB InBev is anticipated to cut down CO2 emissions by 500 tonnes per year by utilizing the former’s fully electric fleet of connected, heavy duty trucks.
Robert Falck — Einride CEO and Founder said: “Benelux is the beating heart of Europe and the place to drive change across the European Union.
“In the last ten years, the union has cut greenhouse gas emissions in every sector but transport, which has only increased, with road freight transport remaining by far the biggest emitter. It’s high time to take action in order to achieve the target of halving emissions by 2030.
“With our industry leading technology that has been electric from the start we look forward to contributing to substantial emission reductions so that Europe can take the lead in the global race to net zero.”
The partnership will kick off in early 2023 with AB InBev and Einride set to deploy heavy-duty electric transport on Belgian soil.
According to Einride, the first phase of the partnership will start the full deployment of the former’s ecosystem, which includes its platform for freight mobility, half-a-dozen connected electric Einride Trucks, and charging infrastructure.
Einride and AB InBev will deploy the trucks in the Brussels and Leuven areas and underpin the former’s goal to attain net zero in its supply chain by the year 2040.
Philippe Seminck — AB InBev Logistics Director Benelux and France said: “We only invest in non-diesel transport and are going for zero in our emissions.
“As we are starting the broad deployment of electric vehicles for city deliveries next year, the partnership with Einride for electric heavy duty transportation on the middle mile is the next step in our green logistics strategy. If the environment we operate in becomes greener, the ingredients for our beer will benefit.”
