Below listed are the effective home remedies for nose bleeding.

Baking soda and salt

Nasal irrigation is a process to get rid of dust, mucus and gunk from the nasal passage which is commonly used for allergy. The irrigated nasal membranes are moisturized and soothed by this process.

Beauty tips with salt

salt

Take 1 or 1 and half cups of lukewarm water to unsoften, a bulb or ear syringe (available with baby products or medical shop), ¼ to ½ teaspoon of salt and same amount of baking soda.

Add salt and baking soda into water and check the temperature. Use the bulb/syringe to suck in water and administer this saline mixture into the nostrils one after another. Afterwards blow the water out of your nostrils by bending your head near the sink. Repeat this procedure on alternate nostrils till all the water flows out of the nostrils.

Humidifier treatment

Steam in any form like morning cup of tea or small steam bath can be used to treat nose bleeding when breathed in.

For the steam treatment, boil some water in a bowl and keep it on a solid surface. Cover your head with a towel and bend over this boiling water bowl. Breathe in the steam coming from the hot water, but be careful not to burn face and keep your face at a comfortable distance from the hot water bowl.

This process will help you to clean the nose. You can also try small steam bath twice daily. Take care to keep your surroundings moist when you are suffering from nose bleeds. Use good humidifier to humidify air in the room. This can prevent nose bleeding as nose is exposed to less stress.

Pressure treatment

Pinch the soft part of your nose by holding it firmly for ten minutes with thumb and forefinger placed on either side of the nose bridges. Keep applying gentle pressure and do not release to slow down the bleeding. Do not apply more pressure as that may cause discomfort.

The pressure applied will slow down or restrict the blood flow from the affected part of the nose. A cold compress on the nose bridges is also effective as it shrinks the blood vessels and stops bleeding.

Ice pack treatment

The blood vessels can be constricted and the inflammation can be reduced caused by nose injury by using ice pack. For this take a zip pack and put crushed ice in it. Close the zip and cover the bag with a towel. Bag of frozen vegetables is also helpful. Place this ice bag around the bridges to stop bleeding.

Nose bleeding treatment with vinegar and cotton

Put plain sterile gauze dipped in white vinegar for around 10 minutes on your nose to stop bleeding. Vinegar contains acid that seals the injured nose area.

Diet to be taken for nose bleeding

Vitamin K is essential for the blood clotting. It is recommended to take 25 micrograms of Vitamin K once or twice daily when you suffer frequently from nose bleeding. Vitamin C and bioflavonoids can prevent the fragile nature of capillaries. Take 500-1000 mg of Vitamin C and bioflavonoids four times a day for two days when you are having nose bleeds. Reduce the dose to 500mg twice daily for a month.

Zinc is essential to maintain the blood vessels and is available naturally in whole wheat bread and brown rice. Popcorn is also a good source of zinc.

Other remedies for nose bleeding

Gently blow your nose, one nostril at a time when you are having nose bleeding. Avoid smoking as it causes dryness and irritation in the nasal passages.

It is also better to avoid smoking environments as they can cause more damage to nostrils.

Hay fever causes allergies that can lead to constant blowing of the nose and sneezes that in turn can lead to damage of soft nasal membranes. So consult your physician to get the treatment for allergy.
