Ecolab acquires food safety solutions provider Chemstar

Ecolab acquisition of Chemstar : Ecolab, a Water, hygiene and energy technologies and services provider, has acquired the business of privately held US-based Chemstar Corporation to expand the former’s food safety and freshness offerings for food retail.

Chemstar is a US-based food safety, sanitation and freshness solutions supplier focused on the food retail and convenience stores.

With sales of approximately $40 million in 2018, Chemstar and its Sterilox Fresh product line serve customers in the US and Canada.

Commenting on Ecolab acquisition of Chemstar, Bobby Mendez – Ecolab executive vice president and president, Global Services & Specialty, said: “Chemstar’s food safety solutions align well with our existing offerings and will enhance and broaden our ability to meet the needs of our food retail customers.”

Acquired by Chemstar in 2016, Sterilox Fresh manufactures produce and floral treatment solutions for the retail supermarkets and foods service. Sterilox Fresh brands include ProduceMAXX and FloraFresh.

ProduceMAXX is an EPA-registered antimicrobial product, which enhances shelf life, protects against cross-contamination and controls spoilage organisms to provide quality and safer produce.

FloraFresh extends the freshness of cut flowers by combining antimicrobial technology with a natural floral nutrient.

Ecolab with annual sales of $15 billion and 49,000 associates, provides comprehensive solutions, data-driven insights and on-site service to encourage safe food, maintain clean environments, optimize water and energy use, and improve operational efficiencies for customers in the food, healthcare, energy, hospitality and industrial markets in over 170 countries worldwide.
