E-commerce giant Amazon opens new fulfillment center in Montgomery, NY

E-commerce giant Amazon has opened a new fulfillment center in Montgomery, New York state to cope up with the increasing demands of its customers and in preparation for the approaching holiday season.

The Montgomery fulfillment center of Amazon is spread over a million-square-foot.

It has a workforce of 800 people, who with the use of technology, pick, pack and ship large customer items. Some of the items include bulk paper products, sports equipment, diapers, pet food, kayaks, patio furniture, and larger household goods.

Amazon said that it has also inked new leases, which include a new fulfillment center in Gates, New York, and a sortation center in Ogden in the same state. The new leases add to an existing roster of sites located in Greece, New York which offers a complete end-to-end fulfillment operations to customers in the Rochester area.

The e-commerce giant has also secured a lease in Hawthorne, New York, for a new delivery station which will help in executing the last mile of its order process and in boosting the efficiency of deliveries for customers.

Verena Gross — Spokesperson of Amazon said: “We are excited to continue to invest in the state of New York with new fulfillment and sortation centers and a delivery station that will provide efficient services to our customers. We care about the communities where we operate which is why we’re proud to create thousands of job opportunities for the talented workforce in this region.
