In a heart-stopping incident that unfolded in Telangana, over 80 tourists were stranded in the formidable Muthyala Dhara waterfalls in Mulugu district. However, the brave team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) swooped in like heroes in an action movie, saving the day and the tourists.
This daring rescue operation began under the cloak of darkness, persisting through the night of July 27, when the usually tranquil waters of Muthyala Dhara turned treacherous. Police reports confirmed that the operation was successful, and thankfully, all tourists emerged in good health, with just one minor scorpion bite to note.
Authorities said the tourists found themselves trapped when unexpected heavy rainfall across Telangana caused the waterfall’s water levels to surge. A truly hair-raising situation that saw both the Telangana Disaster Response Force and NDRF join hands for the rescue mission.
In the midst of the chaos, the Superintendent of Police, Mulugu, provided timely advice to the stranded tourists. The visitors were urged to steer clear from the dangerous water streams and conserve their mobile battery life until the rescue operation reached them by morning.
On a sobering note, the Indian Meteorological Department had sounded a ‘red alert’ from July 25-27, warning of heavy rainfall across Telangana. Despite this, many parts of the state, including the Mahabubabad district, witnessed flood-like situations following the relentless downpour.
