Dalmia Cement begins commercial production at its Murli cement factory

Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited (DCBL) has started commercial production at its Murli cement factory in Chandrapur district, Maharashtra to increase its overall installed capacity by 2.9 million tonnes.

The installed cement capacity of the Dalmia Bharat subsidiary now stands at 35.9 million tonnes. Dalmia Cement had acquired the Murli cement plant for INR 410 crores and further committed to injecting INR 929 crores for its revival, modernization, expansion, and installation of green manufacturing equipment such as waste heat recovery systems, green fuel systems, solar power, and robotic labs for improved quality monitoring.

Dalmia Bharat said that nearly INR 900 crores have been spent or committed out of a total of INR 1,339 crores.

The Murli cement factory is claimed to have been turned around in 15 months from its purchase by Dalmia Cement under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) process.

Previously, Dalmia Bharat had revealed its long-term growth and investment strategy to grow its installed cement capacity across India to 110-130 million tonnes per annum by 2031.

In September 2021, Dalmia Cement began commercial production at line 2 of its Kapilas Cement Manufacturing Works unit near Cuttack in Odisha.
