Consumption of orange juice daily may keep strokes at bay

According to a recent study published in the British Journal of Nutrition, people who consumed orange juice daily saw a reduction in the risk of brain clot by 24 percent.

Drinking orange juice daily may reduce the risk of deadly strokes by almost a quarter. The rates of heart disease were also reduced in people who drink orange juice regularly and they are 12 to 13% less likely to suffer with damaged arteries.

It was earlier believed that fresh fruit juices are healthy but in recent years people have stopped them by warnings because of their high sugar content.

The researchers now confirmed the health benefits of juice to prevent strokes that risks from sugar content. Researchers from the Netherlands National Institute for Public Health said that they have found a favorable association with pure fruit juice consumption. Not only fresh orange juice but also other fruit juices are thought to cut down the risk of strokes.

Fresh juices contain naturally occurring plant substances found in whole fruit that can protect blood vessels. But they recommend eating whole fruit as well as more studies have to be done to confirm its benefits. The study was performed on nearly 35,000 men and women aged between 20 to 70 years.
