CNOOC Limited has officially announced the commencement of production at the Bozhong 19-6 Condensate Gas Field Phase I Development Project, marking a significant milestone in the region’s energy development.

Strategic Location and Production Facilities

Situated in the central part of the Bohai Sea, the project operates in waters with an average depth of around 20 meters. The primary production facilities encompass one newly built central processing platform, three unmanned wellhead platforms, and one gas process terminal. The project plans to commission 65 development wells, including 42 production wells, 20 gas injection wells, and three water source wells. It is projected to reach a peak production of about 37,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2024.

First of Its Kind in Bohai Bay

Zhou Xinhuai, CEO and President of CNOOC Limited, expressed the project’s significance, stating, “The project is the first condensate gas field with a proved in-place volume of over 200 billion cubic meters of natural gas that has been put into operation in Bohai Bay.” He emphasized the gas field’s role in supplying stable clean energy to the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the Bohai Rim region, contributing to the low-carbon and high-quality development of the company.

CNOOC Limited’s Full Ownership and Role as Operator

CNOOC Limited holds a 100% interest in the Bozhong 19-6 Condensate Gas Field and acts as the operator. This development not only showcases CNOOC Limited’s capabilities in offshore natural gas production but also aligns with broader initiatives for low-carbon energy development, playing a crucial role in meeting the clean energy demands of Northern China.
