Clearway Energy breaks ground on 419MW Mesquite Star wind farm in Texas
Wind industry news : Clearway Energy has broken ground on the 419MW Mesquite Star wind farm in Texas after closing the financing for the project.
Mesquite Star wind farm financing
The financing for the new wind farm in Texas located in Fischer and Nolan countries is being arranged by a bank group led by Mizuho. Included in this group of lenders are KeyBank, Banco Santander, and MUFG.
BHE Renewables, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Energy, will provide tax equity commitment to invest in the Mesquite Star wind farm after its completion.
Mesquite Star wind farm turbines
The Mesquite Star wind farm, which will feature 118 wind turbines from Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, is expected to begin operations in early 2020. Clearway Energy gave a notice to proceed to Blattner Energy, which holds the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the new wind farm in Texas.

Developed through a partnership between Clearway Energy and the project’s original developer Hill Country Wind Power, the Mesquite Star wind farm will sell the power generated by it to Ecolab, Brown University, Cisco Systems and others.
