CenturyPly launches wood panel plant in Badvel, Andhra Pradesh

India’s leading wood panels and decorative industry giant, CenturyPly, has announced the inauguration of its largest integrated wood panel manufacturing plant. Located in Badvel, YSR Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh, the event was graced by notable dignitaries including the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, and CenturyPly Chairman, Sajjan Bhajanka.

YSR Kadapa district, recognized for its rich resources, is now poised to become a major agro-industry hub, thanks to the Government’s initiatives and CenturyPly’s investment. The company’s substantial investment of close to Rs. 1000 crores in this laminate, MDF, and PVC unit marks a significant step in this direction. With the first phase already operational, the plant currently comprises two large-size press of laminates, while the MDF and PVC units are nearing completion.

Expanding Capacity and Employment Opportunities

In the next 3-5 years, CenturyPly plans to create over 2000 direct and indirect jobs in the region, significantly contributing to the local economy. This move aligns with the Government’s vision of transforming YSR Kadapa district with one lac acres of plantation, enhancing the area’s flora and fauna and setting a benchmark in sustainable development.

Additional capacities are being developed across India, including in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and the new units in Badvel, Andhra Pradesh. These developments represent a substantial expansion in the company’s production capabilities in various categories such as plywood, particle board, laminates, MDF, and PVC.

Keshav Bhajanka’s Vision for Growth and Sustainability

Speaking at the inauguration, Keshav Bhajanka, Executive Director of CenturyPly, emphasized the company’s commitment to sustainable development and the holistic growth of its stakeholders. With an initial investment of INR 700 crores in MDF and INR 250 crores in laminates and PVC, CenturyPly is set to double its footprint in the MDF sector. A further investment of INR 1000 crores is planned for the second phase of expansion.

The company has also initiated a robust plantation drive in the region, aiming to distribute 1 crore saplings annually to local farmers, with a buy-back guarantee. This initiative is part of CenturyPly’s broader vision to support the community and environment.
