Buffalo Plains Wind Project : Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners announces first power delivery

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), representing the Copenhagen Infrastructure IV (CI IV) fund, has achieved a significant milestone with the successful delivery of power from the Buffalo Plains wind farm to the Alberta grid. This marks a pivotal moment in the development of the project and sets the stage for its full operational launch.

The Buffalo Plains wind farm, strategically located in Alberta, Canada, began its journey with the installation of its first turbine in April 2024. Since then, progress has been robust, with over one-third of the planned 83 wind turbines now installed. The project is on track to reach its full operational status by the fourth quarter of 2024, following the completion of remaining installations and final grid connections.

Once fully operational, the Buffalo Plains wind farm will boast a total installed capacity of 495 megawatts (MW). This substantial capacity is expected to generate sufficient clean energy to power approximately 240,000 households across Alberta.
