Canada-based BRP Inc. said that will break ground on an additional boat manufacturing plant in City, with an investment of CAD 220 million ($164.4 million).

Through the new facility, BRP hopes to boost its manufacturing capacity and capabilities to cope with the demand for its marine products and drive business growth.

The new boat manufacturing plant in Chihuahua City will generate up to 1,300 jobs along with the 2,500 existing roles in BRP’s marine group.

Production at the boat manufacturing facility is expected to begin in early 2025.

BRP said that the new boat plant in Mexico will streamline the global manufacturing footprint for the Alumacraft boats and Manitou pontoons and will complement the production facilities of the marine group located in Lansing, Michigan, Sturtevant, Wisconsin, Spruce Pine, North Carolina, St. Peter, Minnesota, and Coomera, Queensland, .
