Berger Paints India said that its paint manufacturing plant at Sandila, Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh has been formally inaugurated by the state’s Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The fully automated paint manufacturing unit in Sandila began commercial production in early February 2023, said the decorative paint company.
Berger Paints India said that it in its hundredth year of operations in India, the company has invested more than INR 1,000 crores in Uttar Pradesh.
The new paint manufacturing plant has a total installed capacity of 33,000 KL/MT per month. This includes 15,000 KUMT of water-based paint per month as well as 4,800 KL/MT of solvent-based paint per month in addition to putty and construction chemicals.
According to Berger Paints India, the paint manufacturing plant will enable manufacturing of a diverse variety of products. Located strategically and spanning an area of 37 acres, the Sandila paint manufacturing factory is said to have generated 250-300 direct and indirect employment opportunities in Uttar Pradesh.
Abhijit Roy — Berger Paints Managing Director and CEO said: “It gives me immense pride to announce the launch of Berger Paints’ largest manufacturing unit in India, located in Sandila, Uttar Pradesh. It took us more than 61 lac manhours to complete the massive unit.
“While producing a vast range of products, the plant happens to be a zero-liquid-discharge plant and can be run entirely on solar power. While the team faced a lot of obstacles, starting from the Covid waves to the extended monsoons, however that didn’t deter the team’s spirits.
“Given the situation back then, we ensured that we provided a safe environment to all our on-site workers and tied up with the Government of Uttar Pradesh to conduct mass vaccination drives for the locals of UP.”
