BCL Industries commissions paddy-straw power plant in push for bio-fuels

BCL Industries Limited, a grain-based manufacturer of ENA and ethanol in India, has announced the successful commissioning of a 200 KLPD ethanol brownfield expansion in Bathinda, Punjab. This addition escalates the plant’s distillery capacity to 400 KLPD. Alongside the expansion, the company has initiated a 10MW power plant that operates on paddy straw.

The power plant, set to reduce the fuel cost for the distillery segment, will be run on paddy straw stock, already procured until December 2023. Future contracts for the paddy straw are also confirmed for the upcoming year. The capital expenditure for this augmentation amounted to INR 220 Crores.

Rajinder Mittal, the Managing Director of BCL Industries, expressed his enthusiasm regarding the expansion. He emphasized how the move has positioned BCL as one of the largest grain-based distilleries in India. Rajinder Mittal further affirmed the company’s dedication to supporting the government’s bio-fuel initiatives in India.
