Airtel, Tech Mahindra deploy 5G for Enterprise solution at Chakan auto manufacturing facility
Bharti Airtel (Airtel) and Tech Mahindra have joined forces to deploy the ‘5G for Enterprise’ solution at Mahindra & Mahindra’s Chakan auto manufacturing facility near Pune.
With the new solution in place, the Chakan manufacturing plant is said to have become the first 5G enabled auto manufacturing unit in India.
Manish Vyas — Tech Mahindra President of Communications, Media and Entertainment Business and CEO of Network Services said: “5G roll-out has revolutionized the world of internet, ushering a new era of connectivity, communication, and collaboration. Our collaboration with Airtel is aimed at enhancing customer experience through digitally powered new-age platforms and solutions.
“We are confident that this partnership will help unlock opportunities across industries to improve productivity, drive intelligent network-led enterprise digitalization, and spur innovation.”
According to Tech Mahindra, the 5G for Business solution has considerably improved the network connectivity of the Chakan auto manufacturing facility. Besides, it has led to higher speeds for software flashing, which is highly important for all vehicular dispatches.
The Indian IT services provider said that hi-speeds and ultra-low latency will enable managers to simultaneously carry out multiple software flashing sessions in order to cut down turn-around time for an operation.
Tech Mahindra added that the inspection at the Chakan auto manufacturing plant, which is based on computerized vision, is now 100% automated, thereby leading to better paint quality.
Ajay Chitkara — Airtel Business Director and CEO said: “Our 5G solution for enterprise will transform manufacturing operations in the country. We are thrilled to partner Tech Mahindra and Mahindra Auto to demonstrate this transformation and have made the Chakan manufacturing facility India’s first 5G enabled Auto Manufacturing Unit.
“As the industry 4.0 paradigm gathers momentum, reliable data networks will prove to be a key differentiator in factory & manufacturing performances. This is just the beginning, and I am certain we will showcase many more innovative use cases that will help redefine manufacturing in India.”
Recently, Airtel announced a partnership with Facebook owner Meta Platforms to co-invest in global connectivity infrastructure and communications platform as a service (CPaaS)- based new-age digital solutions to scale the Indian digital infrastructure.
