Airtel celebrates 50 million 5G customers in just one year

In a remarkable achievement within a year of the Airtel 5G Plus launch, Bharti Airtel, India’s premier telecommunications service provider, proudly announces a milestone of over 50 million unique 5G customers on its expansive network. The company further reveals that Airtel 5G Plus services are now accessible in every district across the nation, cementing its position as one of the fastest rollouts in India.

Airtel 5G Plus has swiftly expanded its coverage, encompassing all 28 states and 8 union territories. From the picturesque Balia in Bihar to the historically rich Cuttack in Odisha, from the quaint Ramgarh district in Jharkhand to the wildlife haven of Bishnoi in Rajasthan, and from the serene Serai in Kerala to the marshy villages of Kashmir, Airtel customers are now cruising on the digital superhighway, relishing blazing fast speeds.

Randeep Sekhon, the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Bharti Airtel, expressed his excitement, stating, “We are thrilled at the speed of adoption to 5G by millions of our customers, and we are reaching this milestone earlier than planned. This marks a big expansion of Airtel’s 5G coverage, going from 1 million in October of 2022 to 50 million in just 12 months since the launch. The expansion continues at full speed, and I am sure we will continue to rapidly multiply as we work towards nationwide coverage, enabling all our customers to enter the 5G age.”

Exceptionally, districts in Pakistan occupied Kashmir, Naxal-affected areas of Chhattisgarh, and the islands of Lakshadweep, which are connected through VSAT, are the only regions not yet under Airtel 5G Plus coverage.
