ADM to acquire German citrus flavor provider Ziegler Group
ADM acquisition of Ziegler : US food processing company Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) has agreed to acquire the Ziegler Group, a European provider of natural citrus flavor ingredients, for an undisclosed price.
Established in 1963, Ziegler, which is headquartered in Aufsess in Germany, makes use of cold concentration technologies for the production of natural citrus oils, extracts, concentrates and compounds for flavor, food, and beverage sector customers, located mainly in Europe, the US and Japan.
Commenting on ADM acquisition of Ziegler, Vince Macciocchi – president of ADM Nutrition business, said: “Ziegler is highly respected as a cutting-edge leader in citrus, and we’re excited to welcome their outstanding leadership and talent to ADM.
“The combination of Ziegler and Florida Chemical will immediately position ADM for growth as a global leader in natural citrus ingredients, with a complete range of innovative citrus solutions and systems for food, beverage and fragrance customers.”
The agreement follows ADM’s recent addition of US-based citrus flavor provider Florida Chemical.
Vince Macciocchi further said that citrus is one of the quickest-growing, highest-demand flavors for food and beverages. It is due to this that creating a global citrus platform offering a complete product range for customers is a key capability for ADM’s growth strategy, said the president of ADM Nutrition business.
Vince Macciocchi added: “We’re continuing the most ambitious portfolio transformation in our company’s long history, and as we build the world’s leading nutrition company, the beneficiaries will be our customers and our shareholders.”
Subject to regulatory approval, ADM acquisition of Ziegler is anticipated to be completed in Q2 2019.
