Adani Airport Holdings marks major milestone in air cargo operations
Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) has reached a significant milestone in the fiscal year 2023-2024 by handling over one million tonnes of air cargo, showcasing its solid operational capabilities and strategic position in the aviation sector. This achievement underscores a remarkable year-on-year growth of 7%, with AAHL managing an impressive 1,013,115 metric tonnes of cargo and securing a 30.1% market share.
Strategic Growth and Operational Efficiency
The fiscal year’s operations highlighted AAHL’s proficiency in handling international shipments, which constituted 65% of the total cargo, amounting to 662,258 metric tonnes. This represents a 9% growth over the previous year’s figure of 606,348 metric tonnes. AAHL effectively managed diverse commodities such as automobiles, pharmaceuticals, perishables, electricals/electronics, and engineering goods. These operations spanned several key airports including the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (Mumbai), the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (Ahmedabad), and others across India.
Expanding Global Reach and Digital Integration
AAHL’s international cargo operations connected major global destinations such as Germany, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America. The strategic integration of digital processes was also a highlight, with the introduction of 100% virtual account usage by trade partners at the Mumbai airport, marking a significant step towards digitization in domestic cargo operations.

The fiscal year was also notable for several key achievements and recognitions:
– Mumbai International Airport recorded the highest cargo volumes in March 2024.
– AAHL received prestigious accolades including the “Cargo Airport of the Year – Region India” at Air Cargo India 2024 and the “Best Cargo Airport – Efficiency & Digitization” at the India Cargo Awards 2023.
– New freight operators such as Challenge Group, CMA CGM Air Cargo, Air Pace, Kenya Airways, Indigo, and Uganda Airlines were added.
