Maersk Intrepid rig gets contract extension at Martin Linge field
Maersk Drilling said that it has secured a contract extension worth around $10.5 million for its low-emission jack-up rig Maersk Intrepid from Equinor Energy at the Martin Linge field in Norwegian waters.
The Danish drilling rig operator said that Equinor Energy had exercised an option to add additional well intervention work to the work scope that was previously agreed.
The added well intervention scope for the Maersk Intrepid drilling rig has a firm duration of 31 days, and as a result, is contracted by the Norwegian oil and gas giant till February 2022.
The contract amount covers integrated services but excludes potential performance bonuses.

According to Maersk Drilling, the extension of the contract comes under the master framework agreement it has signed with Equinor, in which the firms have committed to work together on technology advancements and further initiatives for curbing greenhouse gas emissions.
The Danish drilling rig operator said that the contract has a performance bonus scheme based on rewarding decreased emissions of CO2 and NOx.
Designed and built as an ultra-harsh environment CJ70 jack-up rig, the Maersk Intrepid can operate year-round in the North Sea and features hybrid, low-emission upgrades. It was delivered to Maersk Drilling in 2014 and is presently operating at the Martin Linge field.
