Vodafone Business has significantly expanded its Internet in the Car (IITC) service, now reaching an additional ten countries, making the service available in a total of 32 countries across Europe. This expansion positions Vodafone as a leader in providing reliable and secure in-car internet connectivity on the continent.

The latest countries benefiting from the rollout include Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Estonia, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Monaco, and Slovenia. This enhancement broadens Vodafone Business’s European footprint, offering the most extensive service of its kind for automotive manufacturers and consumers alike.

Vodafone’s Internet in the Car leverages its Global Managed Internet of Things (IoT) Connectivity Platform, which boasts over 187 million connections worldwide. In collaboration with local ISPs, the service transforms vehicles into mobile internet access points. This integration supports a plethora of in-car internet services, from personalized infotainment and popular app functionality to flexible Wi-Fi services, enhancing the in-car experience for drivers and passengers.

One of the core benefits of the IITC service is its ability to provide a local internet experience across Europe. This service often comes at no extra charge with the vehicle purchase or is available via a prepaid data plan. It allows users to seamlessly access local content and services across borders, thanks to dynamic data routing and an extensive roaming network. This model not only ensures a consistent and integrated service experience but also offers predictable and transparent costs, irrespective of the user’s home mobile network or data plan.

Erik Brenneis, Chief Executive Officer of Vodafone IoT, emphasized the consumer benefits and market potential of the service. “Vodafone Business Internet in the Car is the ideal road companion for manufacturers and motorists,” said Brenneis. He cited a Deloitte survey indicating a consumer preference for digital connectivity to be included in the vehicle’s purchase price rather than paid via a monthly subscription. “Also, with around 145 million connected passenger vehicles predicted by 2028, Vodafone Business is ideally positioned to support manufacturers in capturing this growth with one of the largest pan-European networks and a leading global IoT platform.”

The service also supports Vodafone’s broader initiatives in the automotive sector, including the Safer Transport for Europe Platform (STEP) and a partnership with the Extreme E motorsport series. These collaborations aim to enhance vehicle safety and promote eco-friendly transportation solutions across Europe.

In sum, Vodafone Business’s Internet in the Car service not only simplifies the logistics of internet connectivity for car manufacturers but also enhances the driving experience by turning cars into “Living Rooms on Wheels,” where connectivity and entertainment are as accessible as they are at home.
