Serious industrial accident at UltraTech Cement factory in NTR District injures 15 workers

A distressing incident occurred at the Budawada UltraTech Cement Factory in Jaggaiahpet Mandal of NTR District, where around 15 workers sustained injuries due to a hazardous spill of extremely hot material. According to Nandigama Assistant Commissioner of Police B. Ravi Kiran, the accident happened on Sunday around 11:30 AM when some of the material used in cement manufacturing fell from the third floor onto workers on the second floor.

The factory, known for employing both local and migrant workers, witnessed this unfortunate event when no explosion occurred, but a significant quantity of hot material caused severe burn injuries to many. Out of the injured, five are reported to be in serious condition. This incident has raised concerns over workplace safety and regulations in industrial operations.

In the aftermath, a group of laborers, driven by frustration and anger, stormed the factory office, breaking windows and causing further damage. This led to police intervention to stabilize the situation and prevent further unrest.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has been quick to respond, directing health officials to provide the best possible medical treatment to the injured. He also called for a thorough investigation into the cause of the accident and mandated a report on the same. Additionally, CM Naidu emphasized the need for accountability and assured that steps would be taken against those responsible.

Further addressing the incident, the Chief Minister assured that the Ultra Tech Cement Factory must compensate the injured workers and promised additional support from the state government to aid in their recovery.
