25 die as bus catches fire on Samruddhi Mahamarg expressway in Buldhana

A horrific incident unfolded in the early hours of Saturday on the Samruddhi Mahamarg expressway in Buldhana in Maharashtra, where a bus fire tragically claimed the lives of 25 people.

The bus was travelling from Nagpur to Pune when it reportedly struck a pole, crashed into a divider near Pimpalkhuta village, flipped over, and burst into flames.

It was reported by Buldhana SP Sunil Kadasane that the bus was carrying 33 passengers at the time of the accident, including the driver who survived. Eight passengers sustained injuries, while the remaining 25 sadly did not survive the devastating blaze. According to the driver, the bus overturned as a result of a tyre burst, which led to the fire.

Most of the bus passengers hailed from the cities of Nagpur, Wardha, and Yavatmal. The survivors are currently receiving treatment in a nearby hospital, as authorities are gathering more details on the tragic incident. Further information on the condition of the injured and the possible causes of the tyre burst and subsequent fire are still pending.
