WorldRemit introduces USD payout option in Nigeria

WorldRemit said that its customers in Nigeria can now receive remittances in foreign currency (USD) via its cash pick up providers.

The UK-based digital cross-border payments firm said that after the recent announcement of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), it has adapted quickly to the new requirements, making it the first digital service to provide its customers across the world the option of cash pickup in US dollars in Nigeria.

WorldRemit claims to enable Nigerians in more than 50 countries to support their family and friends back home.

Central Bank of Nigeria’s decision to permit international money transfers to be paid in foreign currency will help in delivering increased liquidity in the foreign exchange market, said WorldRemit.

Gbenga Okejimi – WorldRemit Country Manager of Nigeria and Ghana said: “We are very happy to announce that customers can continue to send money to Nigeria seamlessly using WorldRemit. We have added a new option to send USD for cash pick up to approximately 3,500 cash payment points around the country.

“This will make international payments more convenient for Nigerians during this holiday season, when we typically see an increase in transfers.”

According to Gbenga Okejimi, customers of WorldRemit can continue to quickly and securely send money transfers to Nigeria through various payout methods that include bank accounts, airtime top-up, and cash pick up.
