Wipro, IP Infusion partner on network disaggregation solutions
Wipro has joined forces with IP Infusion, a US-based provider of disaggregated network solutions, for developing offerings that facilitate quicker innovation in IP and optical networks.
Through the partnership, Wipro and IP Infusion will look to empowering original design manufacturers (ODMs), communication service providers (CSPs), and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) for operating more effectively while decreasing their CapEx and OpEx.
The partnership is expected to create market-ready network disaggregation solutions based on IP Infusion’s network operating system protocol stacks and the merchant silicon-based, OCP-compliant hardware design of Wipro.
The Indian IT firm will offer system integration network design as well as implementation and testing capabilities to service providers based on the disaggregated networking solutions jointly developed with IP Infusion.
Atsushi Ogata — President and CEO of IP Infusion said: “Disaggregated networking requires a robust ecosystem, including expert system integrators to expand the scope and implementation of disaggregated network solutions.
“Wipro has a long history of mobile operator engagement and implementation expertise. Combining Wipro’s experience with IP Infusion’s validated disaggregation solutions will enable telecom and data communication operators to accelerate their pace of innovation, maintain Open Compute Project (OCP) compliance, and reduce overall CapEx and OpEx.”
The joint solutions from the parties are also expected to help customers boost their network programmability and automation for advancing their hyper automation journey and reduce their time-to-market goals.
Among the joint solution offerings will be distributed cell site gateways (DCSG), provider edge routers (PE), OpenSoftHaul, fronthaul gateway (FHGW), open optical and packet transport, and data center network solutions.
T V Sriram — Vice President and Global Head of Comms & Tech, iDEAS, Wipro, said: “Some of the key technology enablers of next generation 5G infrastructure are software-defined networking (SDN) / network functions virtualization (NFV), cloud native virtual network functions (VNFs), disaggregation and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) driven network automation.
“We are excited to partner with IP Infusion and integrate these technologies and offer end-to-end solutions to our clients including complete technology lifecycle management.
“Wipro has also made strategic investments in hardware design capabilities, test labs and merchant silicon-based software solutions in this space.”
