Founded in 1935 in Detroit, Michigan, National Ladder initially focused on manufacturing straight and extension wood ladders. Over the decades, it broadened its product line to include a diverse range of safety products and personal protection equipment, catering to a wide array of industries across the Midwest. By 1984, the company had expanded into distributing workwear clothing specifically designed for the construction trade, which later became part of the consolidated National Ladder & Scaffold Co.

With the acquisition, White Cap now operates approximately 450 branches across North America, employing over 9,500 staff and supporting around 200,000 customers. The company is known for providing a one-stop-shop experience, offering products ranging from concrete accessories and chemicals to tools, building materials, fasteners, erosion and waterproofing products, and extensive safety gear.
