Wake-up call from Mother Earth: Powerful earthquake rattles Jaipur

An early morning earthquake with a magnitude of 4.4 jolted the city of Jaipur, Rajasthan on Friday, sending residents into a panic and spurring a rush out of buildings. The tremors, originating at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers, were felt across various parts of the city, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS).

The seismic event, which the National Centre for Seismology reported occurred at precisely 4.09 am, was just the first in a series of shocks that would rock the capital of Rajasthan. This initial quake was swiftly followed by two aftershocks, measuring magnitudes of 3.1 and 3.4 respectively, hitting the city within minutes of the first jolt. The aftershocks were recorded by the National Centre for Seismology at 4.22 am and 4.25 am.

Despite the pervasive sense of alarm, initial assessments suggest no immediate loss of life or property damage. This information was shared by the Police Control Room, which is actively monitoring the situation.

A former chief minister of Rajasthan, Vasundhara Raje, also expressed her concern over the situation, indirectly conveying her hope that everyone was safe amidst the tremors.
